Fresh new attempt at losing 40 lbs

Actually that number keeps fluctuating between 40 and 50 but I really can’t imagine myself weighing 135 again. The last time I was that weight, I was in college and wearing a brace that resembled a turtle’s shell and I could barely eat more than half a cup of food without dying.

But anyways… I signed up to eDiets again and I’m still not crazy about the community and the challenges because some of the groups I’ve been a part of lack real motivation and bring me down instead of up. But this time I signed up for meal delivery. So once a week I get a delivery of 5 days worth of healthy, low-cal food that I can just grab and eat without needing to think too much. I think this is what will work. I guess it would be like having a chef at home.

I usually grab whatever is most convenient when I’m hungry. I never think ahead about what I’ll be eating. Very rarely cook (like once a month) and I always choose the worst things. Dunkin Donuts, Quiznos, dry cereal, my kids’ leftovers, frozen pizza’s, latte’s, PB&J’s, you get the picture. So for 5 days I’ll be fed, and on the weekends I have commited to cooking at least one meal for myself and the family. Hopefully the cooking will get better and I’ll get used to eating better foods.

The first shipment of food gets here on Saturday. Wish me luck!

BGFF Journal: Week #1

1. How does it feel to be in control of your eating?

Honestly, the last time i was “in control” of my eating it wasnt’ in the best of circumstances, so I really don’t know what it feels like to be in control of what you eat while being healthy.   That’s what I’m trying to achieve here.

2. How do you feel when you follow your meal plan? Emotionally? Health-wise (energy, etc)?

I can imagine that aside from feeling hungry, at the end of the day I’d probably have a nice sense of accomplishment.

3. Now that you’ve begun your Summer cleaning, what other de-cluttering projects do you want to work on over the next couple of months?
Hrm..   the entire house?    Really, I want to get every inch of the house clean and looking good.

4. Why is being healthy important to you?
Because being UNhealthy has not been much fun.   I want to have more energy to do the things I keep wishing I would do, and I want to look better for myself.

5. What family activities can you enjoy together that foster a healthy lifestyle for each of you? (Go kite flying, dance together, go swimming, have a water balloon battle in the backyard, eat healthy foods at your picnic/cookout, play frisbee, walk by the beach, etc.)

I think going to the beach, cooking with the kids, having bbq outside would also be fun.
